Are you even in the race?
Up to 10 keywords, in your country or your city. See whether your site actually covers each phrase, how long page one realistically takes, and open the live Google results for each one in a click.
Four columns, and what each one tells you.
Position
Where your site appears in Google for that phrase, in the country or city you chose. When live results are not available, the checker says so and shows whether your site has a page that covers the phrase instead, so you are never shown a number that was not measured.
Covered or not
Whether one of your pages is clearly about the phrase: the words in its title, its main heading and its address. A phrase no page covers will not rank however good the rest of the site is. That is the first thing to fix.
Months to page one
Our estimate of how long page one usually takes for a phrase like this, from how many words it has, how commercial it is and how crowded the results are. It is a range, not a promise, and it assumes the work actually gets done.
Live results
A link to Google's own results for each phrase in your market, so you can see who is above you and what kind of pages win: service pages, directories, maps or articles.
Checking your rankings, answered.
Why does my position differ from what I see when I search myself?
Google personalises results by location, device and history. The checker asks for one location and one device at a time, which is closer to what a new customer sees than a search from your own browser, where you have visited your site many times.
Should I check the country or my city?
Your city, if you sell locally. For a local search Google shows map results first and ranks websites differently street by street. A national business should check the country.
How many keywords should I track?
Start with the ten phrases a buyer types just before they contact a business like yours, not the ones with the most searches. Ten well-chosen buying phrases tell you more than a hundred broad ones.
Is my data stored?
The keywords you check are used to run the check and to show you the result. We do not publish them or sell them to anyone.
