What is RAG, in plain terms?
The assistant looks up the answer in your documents before it replies, instead of answering from memory. That is the difference between a system that quotes your own policy with a link to it, and one that produces a confident paragraph nobody wrote.
How do you stop it making things up?
Retrieval first, citations on every answer, and a refusal when nothing relevant is found. We measure it before launch against an evaluation set of real questions with known answers, and report the score rather than describing it as accurate.
Can it respect who is allowed to see what?
Yes, and this is the part that is usually missed. Retrieval is permission-aware, so a user only gets answers from documents they could already open. Without it, an assistant becomes the fastest way to leak an HR file.
What can it read?
PDFs, Word documents, web pages, SharePoint, Google Drive, Notion, tickets and databases. Scanned documents need OCR first, which we handle, though handwriting remains unreliable and we would tell you that before you paid for it.
Where does it run?
Your cloud or ours, including fully private deployments where no document leaves your infrastructure. That decision changes the design, so it is one we make at the start.
